Dear Parents & Carers,

You may already be aware from media coverage that the National Education Union (NEU), has declared strike action, to take place on Wed 1st Feb; Tues 28th Feb; Wed 15th March and Thurs 16th March in this region. This is due to a national dispute between the unions and the government over education funding and pay which is having a detrimental impact on provision across schools for all pupils. Whilst this action is not because of any specific issue at our school, all educational professionals share similar concerns.

I am writing to you to give you as much notice as possible that learning may be disrupted on these dates. We are currently undertaking a risk assessment exercise and based on the outcome of this, we will consider our options and communicate any decision regarding changes in arrangements/school opening to you as soon as it is possible to do so.

We recommend that you consider possible alternative childcare arrangements for these dates should it be needed. I am sorry about the potential disruption to you and to your child’s education and I understand that this situation may be frustrating.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you of the final arrangements/changes if there are any to be made, as soon as possible via SeeSaw and the school website.

Kind regards,

P A Swift
Headteacher
