Half-term update from the Chief Executive Officer
Dear parents and carers,

I hope that you are well and that you are enjoying this fabulous weather. As we approach the end of this successful academic year, I wanted to share with you some of Mersey View Learning Trust’s achievements.
Firstly, your children have worked incredibly hard and have made excellent progress in their learning. It has been wonderful to see their confidence, independence, and enthusiasm grow across all areas of the curriculum. They should be very proud of everything that they have achieved this year. Added to this, our fantastic staff have also ensured that your children have benefited from opportunities to celebrate their talents and successes. These experiences have helped to create lasting memories and enriched pupils’ learning.
We have had an incredibly busy year at Mersey View with lots happening in our schools and our central team to continually improve your children’s education. I am also delighted to share that this week we have launched our new logo and website in readiness for next term. Staff and pupils are proud of our new logo which represents that children are at the heart of everything that we do.
One of our proudest moments has been the launch of our trust council. Since writing to you in May, we have held our second trust council meeting and our first council ambassadors meeting. Children from all six trust schools are delighted that they are having more opportunity to work together.
On Tuesday, we held our first trust parents and carers forum at Chesterfield High School. This was an opportunity for parents and carers from all of our trust schools to hear more about what we do and to share their views. At Mersey View, we are keen to hear from you and listen to you about what is going well and what we could do better. There will be plenty more opportunities for you to meet with us over the next academic year.
Of course, all of the work to improve our schools is only possible because of the fantastic people that we have across our trust. I am excited to welcome all of the new staff and school leaders who are joining our trust, including some of our new headteachers. Mr Rimmer will be the new headteacher of Waterloo Primary School and Mrs Furlong will be the new Head of School at Rowan High School from 1 September 2026. I would also like to congratulate Mrs Parr and Mrs Jones as they take up substantive positions as headteacher of Valewood Primary School and Head of School at Rowan Park School. Further congratulations go to Mrs Roberts, who will be acting as the interim executive headteacher across Forefield Infants and Junior Schools.
As well as lots of exciting recruitment, unfortunately we are also saying goodbye to some of our staff. I would like to thank Mr Swift, who is leaving his position as headteacher of Forefield Junior School after nine years to take up a new challenge. I wish all staff who are leaving our trust good luck for the future. I would also like to thank Mrs Maciver for acting as headteacher of Waterloo Primary School during the past 18 months.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in helping your children to achieve their best. Your encouragement at home makes a considerable difference to their success at school.
We wish all of our families a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday and we look forward to welcoming the children back for the new term.
