Charging and Remissions Policy

The 1988 Education Reform Act does not permit the financing of educational activities by compulsory contributions if the activity takes place wholly or mainly (i.e. over 50% of its duration) during school hours. However, voluntary contributions should be sought.

The Governors, therefore, adopted a voluntary contribution policy for activities such as educational visits, theatre presentations and visits from subject specialists. They stress that no child should ever be excluded from such an activity, but point out that in the event of insufficient funding for a particular activity from such a policy, cancellation may be necessary.
