Care & Advice For Everyone

A reflective space where we can provide support to equip pupils with the skills they need to overcome whatever barriers they may be facing.

We are here to help…

Mrs Barton is our school SEN(D)Co. She works closely with families and external agencies to identify and support children throughout school. She leads a team of experienced support staff who are timetabled to work with individuals and groups every day.

Mrs Thompson (Selective Education Services) is an SEN specialist who has worked with us for a number of years. She is able to provide specialist provision for individuals and groups, as well as recommend specific programmes of support.

“It feels special to be able to work in the CAFÉ.”

“It makes me feel warm and happy.”

Brighter Horizons works in close partnership with FJS. We have a designated counsellor called Pam who is available to offer support and advice for school, parents and children. The service provides confidential support to children in the calm, safe space of the CAFÉ. Mrs Russell, our deputy headteacher, works closely with parents and external agencies to identify children in need of support.

Mrs Elston & Mrs Rainford are our ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants). They are specialist teaching assistants with a wealth of experience of working with children. ELSAs are trained and regularly supervised by Sefton’s Educational Psychologists. An ELSA is a warm and caring person who wants to help children feel happy in school and to reach their full potential. Their aim is to remove barriers to learning and to have happy children in school and home. Mrs Elston & Mrs Rainford will be on hand to support children as they return to school following lockdown.
